Growing up in Lima, Perú, I was the kid always painting and drawing, dreaming of becoming an artist. I loved collecting stationery—especially vintage Sarah Kay designs—and was completely charmed by Strawberry Shortcake and Snoopy.
But instead of pursuing art right away, life took me on a different route. I moved to Germany and worked in academia, before eventually settling in Florida, where I rediscovered my love for creating. That’s when Designs by Moni was born—a line of whimsical greeting cards inspired by my imaginary world, painted in watercolor and filled with warmth and tenderness.
I have always loved greeting cards—both giving and receiving them. For years, I made original hand-painted cards for friends and family during the holidays and for special occasions. I still keep every card I’ve received, tied in pretty ribboned boxes. Every so often, I open them and revisit those special memories—some joyful, some bittersweet, and all deeply meaningful.
A greeting card is one of the simplest and most heartfelt ways to show you care. My hope is that my art helps people express their love, share a laugh, or remember something sweet. Maybe even become a keepsake—something tucked away in a box of treasured moments.
My illustrations tell gentle, nostalgic stories with loving characters, inspired by childhood memories and the small joys of everyday life. Bringing a little sunshine and optimism to someone’s day—that's my favorite kind of magic.
My work is available in museums, galleries, and independent shops throughout Florida, with a growing presence in cultural institutions and specialty boutiques.
