The Artist

I'm Monica Guerrero —
watercolor artist, ceramicist,
and stationer

Based in Tampa, Florida — creating whimsical illustrations, handcrafted ceramics, and heartfelt stationery rooted in warmth, storytelling, and a love of the small joys of everyday life.

From Lima to Tampa

Growing up in Lima, Perú, I was always the kid with a pencil in hand — dreaming of becoming an artist, collecting stationery, and completely charmed by Strawberry Shortcake and Snoopy. But instead of pursuing art right away, life took me on a different route. I moved to Germany and worked in academia, before eventually settling in Florida, where I rediscovered my love for creating. That's when Designs by Moni was born.

I have always loved greeting cards — both giving and receiving them. For years, I made original hand-painted cards for friends and family. A greeting card is one of the simplest and most heartfelt ways to show you care. My hope is that my art helps people express their love, share a laugh, or remember something sweet. Maybe even become a keepsake — something tucked away in a box of treasured memories.

My illustrations tell gentle, nostalgic stories with loving characters, inspired by childhood memories and the small joys of everyday life. My work is available in museums, galleries, and independent shops throughout Florida, with a growing presence in cultural institutions and specialty boutiques.

"The M is the Andes. The G is the sun."

Monica's initials — carved into clay as a potter's stamp — mirror the most Peruvian drawing a child can make. The Andes as an M, the sun as a G. Her mark on every ceramic piece.
